The Saddest Song

Today I sang
the saddest song
uttering the low notes
in high dudgeon
with lovers and lovely gaze.

Fixed, flashy, and fierce,
the eyes that fazed me
like fire shooting up my
veins, the stare that locked
me in a buried dungeon.

I am your prisoner
you stole my heart,
and you never knew,
you never felt, but
you hear my music.

It’s your love song
but my sad song,
a song my heart carols,
the song I sang when
you’re exchanging rings.
